God

In Christian Science, God is defined as; “The great I AM, the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence.”

- Science and Health, 587: 5-8

Jesus Christ

Christian Scientist revere Jesus as "the highest human concept of the perfect man" as God's holy son. The Christ, or Messiah, is the divine, healing comforter which Jesus promised mankind would remain, even after he ascended. The Apostle Paul writes, "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." — Romans 8:2

Christian Scientists are relying on this law actively when we pray to understand God and our relationship with God, which then results in healing. This power of the Christ is available to all mankind, right now.

"Science?"

While Science may mean biology, physics, and chemistry to many readers, the precise definition of the word is "a branch or knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or principles systemically arranged."

Christian healing is not the activity of the supernatural, nor mystical, but rather — the reliable, replicable result of conscious closeness with God that confirms and proves your well-being, harmony, innocence, safety, immunity, and permanent goodness.

Mary Baker Eddy

Mrs. Eddy discovered Christian Science immediately after the Civil War. In her 40s, she recovered instantly and surprisingly from an injury that doctors believed was fatal. Her spontaneous recovery took place upon reading an account of one of Christ Jesus' healings in the Bible. She described the experience as "the falling apple that led me to the discovery of how to be well myself, and how to make others so."

She did not intend to start a religion, and even resisted it. Yet the healings that she and her students affectively achieved were so definitive and sought-after, that the Christian Science movement came about.  Christian Scientists revere and honor Mrs. Eddy as the discoverer and founder Christian Science, but do not worship her; her writings are rooted in the Bible, but do not replace it.
